Saugatuck Township Recall To Move Vote To November Elections To Save Taxpayers Money

Saugatuck Township Recall committee recently met and determined after conversations with the many who are signing the petitions and meeting door-to-door with us that their concerns on how taxpayers dollars might be used for a Special Election, that we should reconsider holding the Special Election in May.

We conferred with the Allegan County Clerk Bob Genetski about the deadline dates. We learned that the election can easily be moved to the already scheduled November 6, 2018 election for gubernatorial and legislative races, as well as several ballot proposals.

This will not jeopardize any of the signatures that have been collected. This will save the taxpayers approximately $5,000 by combining it with the November election.

The Saugatuck Township Recall committee and its endeavor to hold the elected board members being recalled accountable for lack of transparency and questionable decisions made on the taxpayers behalf.

This action would not enable us, in our conscience, to continue to educate the community of the issues, lack of transparency and questionable decisions.

So we will move this to the November election to be held in 2018. We wish to thank all of our neighbors who shared their opinions, both positive and negative, when we
met with you.

We are glad that we can move forward with this logical solution. Because of this decision we now have a little extra time to give the taxpayers the opportunity to sign the
petition, which will allow everyone to have the opportunity to then vote on who will represent us.

We will hold signing events at the Saugatuck Dune Rides on the next four Saturdays from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. We will continue to visit .door-to-door, as well.

By chance, if we miss anyone, they can email or call us and we will arrange a time to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to sign the petition.

If we find additional dates and times are warranted, they will be announced on our Facebook page and website. Brochures are available. We are hoping others will
join the hundreds who have signed to send the message that we all want transparency, stronger communication, and smarter decisions on our behalf.

Something had to be done, now is the time to stop this long running string of questionable decisions.

The Saugatuck Township Recall is a committee piloted by Cindy Osman and Kathy Sturm, Saugatuck Township neighbors that took the steps necessary to begin positive
change in our township and to work in collaboration with our valuable and knowledgeable committee to share with the taxpayers our concerns on the decisions made by the elected officials.

We are grateful to all committee members that have been out collecting signatures and updating communication sources.
