Saugatuck Township Fire Chief Gregg Janik Picked By Governor For Fire Fighters Training Council
Michigan Governor Rick Snyder has chosen Saugatuck Township Fire District Chief Greg Janik for a position on the prestigious Fire Fighters Training Council.
The Michigan Fire Fighters Training Council serves the training and certification needs of fire departments and fire fighters across the state.
The council prepares and publishes training standards while establishing courses of study, certifying instructors, and establishing regional training centers.
Pursuant to Public Act 144 of 2017, the council is composed of 9 members: the State Fire Marshal or their designee, and 8 members appointed by the governor.
Janik is considered one of the most highly respected fire authorities in the state, according to the governor. His term on the council runs through Jan. 31, 2022.
Snyder stated, in part: “We can only achieve extraordinary things if we aspire beyond traditional thinking. The old unachievable goals will become the new achievable standard. You can help make that happen with a vision, plan and action.”
