Local Weekly Radio Show Terminated By 92.7 The VAN After "F"-Bomb Parody Ad Runs
Officials of the Holland-based radio station 92.7 The Van recently pulled the plug on the Morning Grind weekly program aired at Coral Gables in Saugatuck after a parody ad repeatedly using the “F” word was mistakenly broadcast.
The station also reportedly fired employee Red Kingman after the unfortunate airing of the profanication-laced advertisement.
According to a source at the radio station, Kingman downloaded the advertisement that aired not realizing it was a parody created by someone containing the “F” word.
Kingman could not be reached for comment.
Coral Gables owner Mike Johnson who co-hosted The Morning Grind, broadcast every Saturday morning from The Annex coffee shop and restaurant (part of Coral Gables’ Saugatuck businesses), confirmed the mistake, cancellation by The Van and Kingman’s firing, but said the show will go on.
Johnson says he is in the process of setting up an Internet radio program that will continue to air the popular local radio show. Stay tuned for details, he says.
Johnson adds that he believes 92.7 The Van was concerned about possible FCC fines and penalities as a result of the on-air profanications.
