Douglas Gives Peterson Site Plan Deadline
Douglas officials say Tower Marine owner RJ Peterson has until November 4 to provide them a completed site plan for the expansion of his spoils pile along Blue Star Highway or face “enforcement action.”
Just what action that would entail remains unclear at the moment as Douglas Economic Development Director Ryan Kilpatrick said the city council would have to discuss the matter with its legal counsel before proceeding.
Peterson has received state permits for the dredging of Kalamazoo Lake and the Douglas Planning Commission in April 2012 approved a temporary land use for the growing spoils site, but mandated the marina owner had one year to submit a complete site plan showing how the property would be graded and landscaped.
Kilpatrick said Peterson has to date not shown he can meet the city’s requirements. Peterson said he has met all city requirements to date.
