Cow Hill Yacht Club Clarifies Amount Raised At This Year's Venetian Festival
Cow Hill Yacht Club’s big events, the Venetian Festival and Chili Cook Off, were both very successful this year.
“For the Venetian, we actually took in a bit over $30,000 at the Friday night tent party from entry fees and the drink ticket sales,” said Lance Winchester, the club’s Commodore.
We wanted to clarify that as the information given to The Local Observer last week incorrectly gave the total revenue for the evening instead of the net profit.
“That just covers expenses, for things like the tent, band and fireworks, sales tax, cost of beverages sold, our insurance, porta jons, and marketing,” he said.
“Our sponsors provide the funds to enable our charitable mission and we cannot express how much we appreciate them.” he said.
“Without them, we would need to increase the entry fee or cut back on the entertainment we bring to the community and visitors to our town.”
Cow Hill’s assistance to support dozens of needy families and individuals in the community has grown by 68% comparing year to date 2018 to 2017.
“We try very hard give away all the money we earn, but the Venetian Festival is quite expensive to put on, so we continue to seek sponsors/donors to fund our good works,” said Winchester.
“We hope everyone will take an opportunity to thank and support our sponsors,“ the Commodore said.
