City Of Douglas Long-Term Harbor Master Plan
The City of the Village of Douglas has engaged Edgewater Resources to expand their current waterfront master planning services to include Long Term Harbor Planning services to address the broader harbor issues that impact the future of the Douglas community.
Edgewater Resources is also collaborating with Williams & Works on the City-wide Master Plan, which is a related, but separate effort.
The second of a series of five waterfront-focused community meetings will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 11 at the Saugatuck Brewing Company. In the first session in early May, we discussed the overall vision for the Douglas Harbor and for Kalamazoo Lake.
The primary objective of this second session is to present the feedback that we heard during the first session, and establish community-supported guiding principles.
This session will include a visual character activity, where we will review historic precedents for architecture and development patterns, both in the Douglas area and in other favorite waterfront communities as mentioned through community feedback. We will then present and analyze the results of the activity during the session, to ensure that we can move forward together with a common vision.
Future sessions will include an interactive, 3-D charrette to help further define a community vision for your harbor.
The final product of the meetings will be a single consensus plan based on feedback from the community and permitting agencies.
All meetings will be documented online in a project website that will allow those who cannot attend the meetings a venue to follow the process and provide direct feedback. Questions regarding this meeting should be directed to the City offices at (269) 857-1438.
