Broderick Files False Police Report Against Former SPS Custodial Service Contractor In Bizarre Case Of Retribution, Says Wrongly Accused Woman
Saugatuck Public Schools’ (SPS) administrator Elizabeth Broderick filed what has been called a false police report against a woman who has publicly accused Broderick of engaging in improper - and possibly illegal - actions of featherbedding, nepotism and misconduct by her in her job with the local school district.
Becky Carten-Crandell, owner of All In One Cleaning of Fennville - the company that held the cleaning contract with SPS for more than a decade before Broderick ended the contract last year (see article above) - says Broderick called police and filed a report alleging Carten-Crandell was stalking her at her new residence in Bayview Condominiums in Saugatuck.
According to authorities, Broderick claims she was in her car in the parking lot of her new home on July 20 - where she has moved to after recently selling her Saugatuck residence - when she says she saw Carten-Crandell on the premises of the condo complex allegedly staring at her.
Broderick alleges she believed Carten-Crandell was there apparently stalking her.
When Saugatuck-Douglas Police Officer Mark Giles investigated the report, he verified with Interurban on July 21 that Carten-Crandell was simply at her job as a driver for the Interurban and was picking up a resident there at the condos who had called for a ride.
“I’m not surprised Broderick would do something like this,” an angry Carten-Crandell said.
Carten-Crandell says she believes Broderick filed the false police report in retribution because Carten-Crandell has become a whistle-blower about numerous instances of alleged wrongdoing by Broderick in her role as a top SPS official.
“I work part-time as an Interurban driver. I was merely picking up an Interurban customer there in a big Interurban van…I had no idea Liz Broderick had moved there,” said Carten-Crandell.
“This is blatant harrasment by Broderick. The officer (Giles) talked to me about this on July 25.
“I’m now looking into my legal options against her for filing that obviously false police report against me. This isn’t over,” said Carten-Crandell.
Efforts to reach Broderick for comment about the police report she filed and Carten-Crandell’s claims of retribution by Broderick were unsuccessful.
